HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHIROPRACTIC!!

On September 18, 1895, D.D. Palmer delivered his first adjustment, one that would affect millions of lives in the future. Palmer found many conditions responded well to adjustments or “hand treatments” including but not limited to; the flu, sciatica, migraine headaches, stomach complaints, epilepsy, and even heart trouble. He coined the term CHIROPRACTIC, a combination of Greek words meaning “the practice of hands”. His son B.J. Palmer followed in his father’s footsteps and is credited with helping chiropractic grow into a defined and unique health care system.

Since the days of its invention, chiropractic has advanced tremendously, but still holds the basic tenets and understanding as a drug-free method of correcting vertebral subluxations in order to remove nerve interference.

On August 8th 2011, our office celebrated NATIONAL KIDS DAY!

On August 8th, Jenkins Chiropractic was filled with smiling faces. Our office was bustling with both kids and parents, having fun and learning new things about health. Kids learned fun and easy ways to stay healthy from a personal trainer right here in the waiting room. Everyone had the chance to get there faces painted with any design they desired, and girls had the chance to get a shiny hair tinsel put into their hair! Stickers and candy were also handed out to all the kids!

DR. J RUNS COMPLETES A TRIATHLON!

In an effort to maintain a mindset of constant and never ending improvement, Dr. Jenkins decided this was the year to compete in his first triathlon. Training started in April for a race date of Sunday, September 20th.  It took place at Owenego Beach in Branford, Connecticut.  Over 300 athletes registered and participated. The swim was ½ mile, the bike was 14 miles and the run 4 miles.  The first finisher crossed the line after 1 hour and 11 minutes. Dr. Jenkins crossed the finish line 27 minutes later with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes.
When asked how he felt,Dr. Jenkins replied, “It’s amazing to set a goal and achieve it.  It feels great both physically and mentally to push your body to higher levels of function and achievement. That’s why Chiropractic plays such an important role in the lifestyles of my family and the patients in our practice…because we utilize it for its true purpose…to allow the body to function at its maximal potential.  I’m now looking forward to the next race and the next level of achievement.  Thank you for all the support and wishes, I hope the pictures show how much I not only enjoyed the result but the journey as well.  Isn’t that what life’s all about?”
